Intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) is a form of rehab that comes after detox. Unlike inpatient treatment, patients can leave the program and go home at the end of each day. Most IOPs take place Monday through Friday, allowing clients the ability to remain in their home or choose their accommodations. Solution Based Treatment offers upscale sober living housing to all intensive outpatient treatment participants.

Staying in sober living housing can help one build community and have a sober support system. Intensive outpatient treatment is beneficial for people who have previously participated in detox and rehabilitation for substance abuse and have recently relapsed.

Understanding Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Intensive outpatient treatment begins after the detox process is complete. Some participants enter a residential treatment program in between detox and IOP.

An intensive outpatient treatment program is conducted during the day, giving participants the ability to continue to hold their jobs and be involved with family and friends easily.

During IOP treatment there will be a mix of group therapy and individual therapy. These therapies will also be mixed with other activities and exercises to help clients develop coping mechanisms to maintain sobriety. Most IOP programs also include:

  • Medication management, if necessary
  • Regular contact with a treatment team
  • Personalized treatment and aftercare plans
  • Family involvement and therapy, if appropriate
  • Access to community resources and support groups

Relapse Recovery & Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Participating in an intensive outpatient treatment program after relapse is a great option for people who do not need residential treatment, but are still looking for sobriety support. IOP allows participants to maintain a sense of normalcy while getting back on track after relapse.

When an individual reaches out to Solution Based Treatment, our admissions team will work closely with the medical professionals on staff to find the right program for their situation. Intensive outpatient treatment can last anywhere from 30 days to a year, allowing clients to work on their sobriety at their own pace.
