PHCS Insurance Plan Options
PHCS is the largest, independent, and nationwide preferred provider organization (PPO). This means those who have insurance may have in-network and out-of-network coverage through PHCS’s PPO network, which allows them to choose their providers with more flexibility. Today, PHCS has over a million providers with 87,000 ancillary facilities, 4,800 acute care hospitals, and 920,000 practitioners.
Addiction Treatment Options
Addiction treatment options open to you may vary based on your insurance provider, though you can always choose to pay more out-of-pocket costs to go through any type of substance use disorder treatment you choose. Here are several kinds of treatments you may opt for as you move along the path to sobriety.
PHCS for Medical Detox
PHCS may cover 100% of medical detox. Medical detox is a monitored method of stopping the use of drugs or alcohol. Some medical detox is done on an outpatient basis, while others take place in hospitals or around-the-clock inpatient facilities. Solution Based Treatment offers alcohol detox, benzodiazepine detox and heroin detox programs that may be 100% covered by PHCS insurance.
PHCS Coverage for Residential Treatment
Residential treatment includes 30, 45, and 60 day programs that help you get medical care and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. PHCS may provide support for residential treatment by pairing with your insurance provider through your employer.
PHCS Coverage for Outpatient Treatment
PHCS and your employer’s insurance coverage may cover outpatient treatment. There are several options.
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)
For rehabs that take PHCS, intensive outpatient programs (IOP) may be offered. These programs are intensive, requiring you to come to the facility several times a week for several hours or more each visit. You will not live at the facility, however.
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)
Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) are great options for those who don’t qualify for or have the time for inpatient programs. PHP programs require you to visit a hospital or inpatient facility most, if not all, days of the week for the majority of the day. You will return home at night.
Outpatient Treatment
Typical outpatient treatment includes therapies such as group therapy, individual therapy, medication management, and primary care or follow-up visits to help you stay on track. A rehab or detox program PHCS insurance works with may cover some or all of your outpatient costs.
PHCS Rehab Coverage FAQs
Does PHCS insurance cover drug and alcohol rehab?
PHCS works with your insurance provider as a PPO network to give you more choices for your care. Our Admissions Department can verify your benefits in around an hour, so you know how much you’ll need to pay and if your care is covered 100% by your insurance provider.
How can I verify my PHCS insurance benefits?
To verify your PHCS benefits, it’s best to call our Admissions Department at (833) 999-1941 or log into your MultiPlan Client Portal.
Does PHCS cover outpatient addiction treatment?
PHCS is not an insurance provider but works with your insurance coverage to expand the number of outpatient providers you can see at a reduced rate. Call our Admissions Department to verify your benefits and see how much your total cost will be for your SUD treatment at a rehab program PHCS insurance recognizes. It may be at no cost to you. You can also check your members’ schedule of benefits or log into your MultiPlan Client Portal to see more information about covered providers.
Does PHCS cover inpatient mental health?
A rehab program that takes PHCS may cover inpatient mental health care depending on the insurance provider you use in combination with the network.
Do treatment centers need to be in network?
A rehab or detox that accepts PHCS can be in- or out-of-network since PHCS is a PPO. However, the specific coverage you’ll receive and the providers available to you may vary based on your specific insurance policy.
How much does PHCS insurance cover?
The amount covered by your insurance will depend on your deductible, co-pays, and total out-of-pocket maximums. Our Admissions Department can help verify your benefits.
How do I pay for costs not covered by PHCS insurance?
If you have costs that aren’t covered by your insurance provider, you will need to pay them out of pocket. However, there may be other options, such as SUD grants or scholarships, that you can apply for. Our Admissions Department would be happy to speak with you about the options we offer to all our clients.
How is a PHCS HMO different from a PPO?
An HMO is a restricted network of providers covered by an insurance carrier. With an HMO, you pay less monthly, but you are also limited in who you can see for care. On the other hand, a PPO is a preferred provider organization that is much larger, giving you more options. PPOs generally cost more each month with the trade-off of better flexibility.
Can you get a single case agreement with PHCS?
PHCS is a PPO network. It doesn’t handle single case agreements directly, but you may be able to get one through your insurance provider who pairs with PHCS.
